Google releases its new Chrome web browser
2 September 2008It’s official: the Google browser is now available for download. Actually, it’s available if you have been doing a relatively good job keeping your operating system up to date. I downloaded a copy at the office today and played around with it, and then I decided that when I got home this evening I would install it on my home computer and then use it to post this entry. That was an interesting idea, but here at home my PC still runs on Windows 2000, and there is no version of Google Chrome that runs on Windows 2000. At least, none that I could find. You need XP or (gasp!) Vista in order to run Chrome.
I’m sure I’ll have to dump Windows 2000 at some point, but hopefully by then it will be in favor of Ubuntu or OS/X or some other such product that we have yet to even hear about at this juncture. But not today. I’ll just have to live without Google Chrome at home for now.
Maybe on my Fedora box …
